Benton County Fire Protection District No.2 will be accepting applications to create an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter / Paramedic, an FLSA non-exempt, IAFF represented position. This list will be used for 1 year. Please review job qualifications below for more information about the position. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
(the requirements listed below must by accomplished by the application deadline)

  • Age Requirement: Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at date of closing
  • Educational Requirement: Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED Certificate
  • Fire Certification: Accredited NFPA Firefighter I; NWCG Wildland FF Type II (or ability to obtain both, within 1 year)
  • EMS Certification: Washington State or NREMT Paramedic (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Medical Examination: Ability to pass a medical exam based on NFPA 1582 Medical Requirements for Firefighters
  • Licensure: Possess a valid insurable Washington Drivers License, or ability to obtain; possess a driving record that meets the BCFPD#2’s standards.

 

DESIRABLE CERTIFICATIONS, TRAITS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Accredited NFPA FFII
  • NWCG Wildland FFI
  • Accredited NFPA Pumper/Operator
  • Accredited NFPA Instructor I
  • Rescue Boat Operator
  • Swiftwater Rescuer SRT-1
  • Associates of Applied Science Fire Science Degree
  • Enthusiasm/Desire for Public Service
  • Mechanical Aptitude/Experience
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Interpersonal Skills
  • High Level of Ethical Standards and Moral Integrity
  • Understanding of Professional Public Image
  • Previous experience working for a Combination Department

TESTING PROCESS:

Applications will be screened per the requirements. Applicants passing the initial screening process will be placed on our eligibility list. When the need to hire is determined, candidates on the eligibility list will be notified about our competitive testing process, and will be provided further details at that time. Candidates must pass the competitive testing process. The District anticipates immediately filling a minimum of (2) positions off this list. The final interview will be conducted with the Fire Chief.
